COORDINATOR OF COTTAGE PROGRAM
Department: Residential Center
Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Treatment Team Leader for supervision, direction, development and evaluation. All child care staff assigned to the Cottage are accountable to the Coordinator who provides for their supervision, evaluation and direction.
Qualifications: B.A. degree in Human Services preferred with at least three (3) years related experience in a residential treatment setting. Associates degree in Child Care or Human Services and three (3) years of increasingly responsible child care experience, preferably in a residential treatment setting. High School diploma with five (5) years of increasingly responsible child care experience, preferably in a residential treatment setting. A valid driver’s license is also required.
General Job Description: As a member of the Cottage Team, the Coordinator provides staff leadership for the provision of services to Cottage residents within the mandates required by Agency policy. The Coordinator assists Cottage staff in meeting their assigned tasks.
Essential Functions:
· Provides for a physically and emotionally safe group-living environment for all residents.
· Provides each resident with assurance of total staff commitment to meet his/her special and unique needs.
· Participates, as required, in the development, discussion, transcribing and implementation of all Treatment Plans. Insures staff input and communication of results to Cottage Team.
· Guarantees the involvement of all residents and child care staff in meeting fire, health and safety requirements.
· Completes all required recording in a timely, appropriate and professional manner. Insures completion of same by child care team members.
· Advocates for and promotes communication of all issues relevant to resident needs.
· Maintains a climate wherein resident needs are the priority. Activities and services are delivered in a consistent and timely manner. Resident availability for all scheduled services and programs is guaranteed.
· Interviews prospective child care staff. Assists with orientation, supervision, training, development and evaluation of child care staff, as required. Actively seeks to provide learning and advancement for Cottage staff.
· Recognizes needs and participates in advancing personal training and development.
· Assigns child care staff as required by program and Agency standards. Tracks and submits timecards to Cottage Team Leader.
· Accountable for physical status of all areas within the Cottage unit.
· Maintains awareness of and insures the consistent communication and implementation of approved Cottage policy and procedures.
· Participates in the development of the annual Cottage budget and insures compliance with all fiscal requirements for staff and residents.
· Shall provide direction to residents assigned in conjunction with Cottage Program Coordinator and other Level III personnel. Shall document all counseling and support efforts consistent with current Treatment Plan.

Status: Exempt
Physical and Mental Requirements: Moderate physical exertion required. Ability to maintain composure in crisis situations with youth. Ability to restrain youth in accordance with Agency and State requirements.
Normal Working Hours: Residential schedule mandates afternoon, evening and weekend coverage on site.
