With your
help we can expand our collaborative services for children, families
and communities in need.
Dear Friends,
Past support from individual donors has allowed us to secure warehouse
space at 2233 Allegheny Avenue in the North Philadelphia West area.
Carson staff, along with the building owners, have been equally committed
to the renovation of this space to allow maximum program and service
flexibility in an environment that is both warm and welcoming to the
Allegheny West community.
With renovations now completed,we are poised to enhance collaborations
already initiated with expanded services throughout the coming year.
Even before occupying Carson Valley School Allegheny West Center,we
have experienced success in our after-school and summer enrichment
academy at the Whittier Elementary School, located in this community.
Over 70 neighborhood children benefited from educational, recreational,
cultural and creative learning programs.
The 2004-2005 academic year will see a continuation of our Whittier
Elementary collaboration and an expansion of other after-school interventions
at our Allegheny West Center. Included in these supports aimed at
maintaining and building on family and community strengths are:
|
Remediation
and Skill Building
|
Leadership
Training for Young Adults
|
|
Parenting
Skills
|
Behavioral
Health Services
|
|
Neighborhood
Meetings
|
|
We are committed
to work with the folks who call Allegheny West "home". We
are pleased they have allowed us to be part of their family. We will
seek every resource available to build on their strengths. We need
and ask for your help in providing those resources.
On behalf of the thousands of people who will surely benefit from
our Allegheny West Center, thank you.
Warmest regards,
John Taaffe
