Center, provides alternative and special education
services to over 200 emotionally disturbed/
behaviorally disordered students, grades 1st -12th.
Students, who have experienced significant
difficulties in a regular education setting, are
referred from their home school districts. The
goal of the program is to provide intensive,
relatively short-term educational and therapeutic
services that enable the participating student to
achieve a successful community adjustment. The
school operates year-round with six hours of
instruction per day. The program is approved by
the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as an Act 30/316
P.R.R.I. to provide alternative education, special
education, and day treatment services.

readiness, job training and job placement services for
middle and high school youth in CVCA’s Alternative
Education Program. Youth are given the opportunity
to develop skills that can later be applied to employment
settings such as child care, landscaping, farming,
cooking, restaurant management and carpentry.
Students apply their new skills at the Flourtown
Neighborhood Center increasing their potential in the
job market while also contributing to the community
in which they live and learn. All services are offered
with the goal of developing young adults who are
able to successfully transition to independence with
marketable skills in-hand.
Nursery School/Day Care

Center, provides a State Licensed Nursery School
and a Licensed Day Care Program for more than
100 children, ages 2-5 each year. The program is

staff and environment offer a setting in which
each child is able to develop at their own pace.
Learning focuses on developing the whole child
by encouraging their physical, social, emotional
and cognitive growth, as well as their creative
expression. The program operates year-round
