Nursery School/Day Care

Alternative Education
Located at the Flourtown Neighborhood Center, provides alternative and special education services to over 200 emotionally disturbed/ behaviorally disordered students, grades 1st -12th. Students, who have experienced significant difficulties in a regular education setting, are referred from their home school districts. The goal of the program is to provide intensive, relatively short-term educational and therapeutic services that enable the participating student to achieve a successful community adjustment. The school operates year-round with six hours of instruction per day. The program is approved by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as an Act 30/316 P.R.R.I. to provide alternative education, special education, and day treatment services.

Experiential Education
Offers a full continuum of life skills, job readiness, job training and job placement services for middle and high school youth in CVCA’s Alternative Education Program. Youth are given the opportunity to develop skills that can later be applied to employment settings such as child care, landscaping, farming, cooking, restaurant management and carpentry. Students apply their new skills at the Flourtown Neighborhood Center increasing their potential in the job market while also contributing to the community in which they live and learn. All services are offered with the goal of developing young adults who are able to successfully transition to independence with marketable skills in-hand.

Nursery School/Day Care
Located at the Flourtown Neighborhood Center, provides a State Licensed Nursery School and a Licensed Day Care Program for more than 100 children, ages 2-5 each year. The program is designed to enhance creativity, promote curiosity and foster the love of learning. A warm, caring staff and environment offer a setting in which each child is able to develop at their own pace. Learning focuses on developing the whole child by encouraging their physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth, as well as their creative expression. The program operates year-round with a special summer camp experience for the children.
