Our History
Carson Valley School has provided
specialized services to children and
their families since opening in 1917.
Originally founded as Carson College
for Orphan Girls, the agency has been
a model for progressive childcare
and education.
Carson Valley School’s Flourtown
campus supports a residential child
care treatment facility, an alternative
education program, a nursery school
and a day care program for the
surrounding communities.
In addition, Carson Valley School
provides neighborhood-based
programs in the Germantown, Mount
Airy and Allegheny West sections of
Philadelphia. At-risk individuals in
these communities are able to access a
range of prevention, behavioral health,
placement and in-home services in
family friendly and supportive
environments.
Children’s Aid Society has provided
specialized family-focused social
services to abused, neglected and
delinquent children and youth
within and outside of the context of
their families.
Since its founding in 1885 as a foster
placement and adoption agency,
Children’s Aid Society has been a
valued social service agency serving
Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery
and Philadelphia counties.
Children’s Aid Society has supported
more than 30 programs within
southeastern Pennsylvania including
adolescent group homes, adoption,
after school programs, foster care,
parenting services, services to children
in their own homes, summer camps,
truancy prevention programs, and a
variety of school based and family
support programs.
On July 1, 2008 Carson Valley School and Children's Aid Society joined together to create Carson Valley Children's Aid.
